Hi, I'm Joe Dahlke

I'm a digital content creator with a passion for storytelling and a knack for social media and graphic design. I'm a creative introvert at heart, and I've been capturing moments through photography and video since I was a kid.

After graduating from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University, I landed my first job as a Digital Content Producer at KDVR/KWGN-TV in Denver, Colorado. During my time there, I established online Denver sports coverage for the stations and implemented strategies that helped KDVR become the #1 Denver TV News website and #1 in social media engagements in 2018, despite having fewer followers than the competition. We even won several Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards and Colorado Broadcasters Association Awards for Best Station Website.


In 2019, I took a leap of faith and joined the State of Colorado Governor's Office as Director of Digital Strategy and Social Media. I led the charge in producing social media content and increasing Instagram followers by 400% in the first year alone. I also oversaw the digital communications crisis response to the COVID-19 pandemic from day one, which included a social media strategy, graphics, videos, decks, and press conferences.

In 2019, I took a leap of faith and joined the State of Colorado Governor's Office as Director of Digital Strategy and Social Media, managing digital commuications for Governor Jared Polis, First Gentleman Marlon Reis, and Lieutenant Governor Dianne Primavera. I spearheaded a dynamic overhaul in social media engagement, propelling the Governor’s Instagram followers by over 600% and elevating overall social media engagement by 400% in the first year alone. My leadership was pivotal during the statewide response to the COVID-19 crisis. I directed the digital communication strategy, including three weekly press conferences, and ensured the distribution of crucial updates through meticulously crafted graphics, videos, decks, and social media content. I introduced a refreshed social media brand for Governor Polis, complete with a new logo and a unified voice across platforms, significantly boosting brand recognition and public interaction. Additionally, my initiatives included launching Spanish-language social media pages, dramatically improving accessibility for Colorado’s Spanish-speaking community. My efforts culminated in unprecedented triple-digit growth across all platforms between May 2019 and October 2021, underscoring my role in transforming the State’s digital communication to reach and engage with a wider audience effectively.

During my time at FOX Weather, a national weather outlet backed by FOX News Media, I made significant contributions as a member of the audience development team. Joining shortly after the brand's launch in 2021, I played a crucial role in establishing and enhancing its brand voice and awareness. Through the development and execution of effective social media strategies, I successfully elevated the brand's identity and voice, driving increased engagement and expanding its reach. Notably, I designed and implemented a custom social media graphics package that resulted in a remarkable 174% growth in Facebook followers within the first five months of use. I managed and executed various social media projects and campaigns, amplifying company initiatives and driving app downloads, website views, and audience growth. My expertise in optimizing YouTube content further enhanced video views and SEO traffic, aligning with key company objectives. Through creative approaches and effective social media marketing strategies, I fostered audience engagement and helped FOX Weather become a leading national weather outlet.

After getting laid off in May 2023, I took some time to travel and have some time to myself before joining AccuWeather in July 2023, another nationally known weather outlet, significantly enhancing their digital footprint by reinventing social media content with impactful graphics and videos, which skyrocketed viewer engagement and placed 10 of our videos among the most-viewed in AccuWeather history within just two months. My work, leveraging Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, led to groundbreaking growth in audience engagement, with a 1,830% increase in followers on TikTok and a 69% boost on Instagram in the first eight months, outshining and surpassing competitors in engagement metrics for the first time in company history on those platforms. This role has allowed me to blend my passion for storytelling with cutting-edge digital strategy for weather brand management.


When I'm not working, you can find me cheering on Colorado sports teams like the Denver Broncos and Colorado Avalanche, geeking out over anything weather-related, listening to country music and the latest podcast I'm obsessed with, or hiking to a scenic viewpoint.
